The purpose of the Texas Irlen Association is to advance knowledge of Irlen Syndrome as a science and as a means of promoting human welfare by the promotion of research in Irlen Syndrome and the improvement of research methods and conditions; by the improvement of the qualifications and usefulness of Irlen certified practitioners through high standards of professional ethics, conduct, education, and achievement; by the increase and diffusion of knowledge of Irlen Syndrome through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions and publications; thereby to advance scientific interest and inquiry, and to foster the application of research findings in the promotion of the public welfare.
Texas Irlen Association holds an annual meeting in early spring each year. Meetings alternate been Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Members and other interested parties including parents are invited to attend. In 2015, we encourage members to attend the International Irlen Conference in Houston, July 8-12. MEMBERSHIP AND AFFILIATION
There are three classes of membership in the Association; Founding Members, Member, and Non-Resident Member, and two classes of affiliation; Affiliate and Honorary Affiliate.
Members of the Association shall be persons who reside in, are employed in, or are students in the State of Texas, who apply in wiring for membership, who pay yearly dues, and who practice within and adhere to the ethical standards of this Association.
Section 1. Member Classes
- Members: The Members of this Association shall have received a certification from the Irlen Institute as either an Irlen Diagnostician, Irlen Screener, or Irlen PASS Screener
- Non-Resident Members: Non-Resident Members shall be Members of the Association who have received certification from the Irlen Institute as either an Irlen Diagnostician, Irlen Screener, or Irlen PASS Screener whose primary residence or place of employment is not in Texas.
Section 2. Affiliate Classes
Affiliates are not members of the Association and shall not represent themselves as such. They shall have such rights and privileges as may be granted by the Executive Committee.
Affiliates: Affiliates of this Association shall be selected persons approved by the Executive Committee with interests consonants with the purpose of this organization as stated in Article II of the Constitution, who apply in writing for Affiliation and who pay yearly dues. Such Affiliates shall have all the rights, responsibilities, and duties of Members except that Affiliates may not hold office in the Association, nor in any of its Divisions, nor shall they be entitled to vote.
Honorary Affiliates: Honorary Affiliates of this Association shall be persons who have shown evidence of outstanding contribution or performance in the field of Irlen Technology, or persons of distinction in fields other than Irlen Technology. Honorary Affiliates shall be elected by the Executive Committee and shall have all rights, responsibilities, and duties of Members except that Honorary Affiliates may not hold office in the Association nor in any of its divisions, nor shall they be entitled to vote. Honorary Affiliates shall be exempt from paying the annual dues of the Association.
